Thinking about support — whether for yourself or someone you care for — can feel overwhelming at first. There’s often a lot of information, new terms, and decisions to make. It’s completely normal to feel unsure about where to begin.
At Riverland’s Total Care Support, we believe starting support doesn’t need to be stressful or complicated. It should feel simple, respectful, and centred around real conversations.
Feeling Unsure Is Completely Normal
Many people tell us they hesitate to reach out because they’re not sure what support should look like, or they worry about making the “wrong” choice. Others feel unsure about asking for help at all.
The truth is, there’s no perfect way to start — and no pressure to have everything figured out.
“Not knowing where to start is okay. Support begins with a conversation.” - Doug
Keeping Things Simple and Human
Our approach at Total Care is straightforward. We take the time to listen, understand your situation, and answer questions honestly — without rushing or pushing decisions.
We focus on:
Clear, open communication
Taking things one step at a time
Respecting your pace and preferences
Support should never feel forced. It should feel comfortable.
What Support Can Look Like
Support looks different for everyone. For some, it might mean help with daily routines. For others, it could be mentoring, community access, or building confidence and independence over time.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach — and that’s exactly how it should be.
Good support fits around your life, not the other way around.
At Total Care, we work with you to shape support around your goals, routines, and comfort level — and we adjust as life changes.
Support for Families and Carers
Starting support can also be a big step for families and carers. Having someone you trust, who communicates clearly and follows through, can make all the difference.
We value working closely with families, building strong partnerships, and making sure everyone feels informed and supported along the way.
A Local Team You Can Trust
As a small, local team based in the Riverland, we pride ourselves on being down-to-earth, consistent, and genuine. We currently have capacity to support participants across the Riverland, and we’re always happy to talk through options — even if you’re just exploring what support could look like.
